Daily Manna from the Net for Saturday, August 30, 2008 [Psalm 139:1-3]

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Psalm 139:1-3 NIV

Morning

Blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.

No distrust made [Abraham] waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.—The men of Judah prevailed, because they relied on the LORD, the God of their fathers.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea.—It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.—The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the LORD upholds his hand.

Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack!

Prov. 16:20; Rom. 4:20, 21; 2 Chron. 13:18; Ps. 46:1, 2; Ps. 118:8, 9; Ps. 37:23, 24; Ps. 34:8, 9 (Read full verses…)

Evening

In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

You will not fear the terror of the night. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge.—“As a hen gathers her brood under her wings.”—He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand.

Let me dwell in your tent forever! Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings!—Even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.

He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?—You are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.—“I will trust, and will not be afraid.”

Ps. 4:8; Ps. 91:5, 4; Matt. 23:37; Ps. 121:3-5; Ps. 61:4; Ps. 139:12; Rom. 8:32; 1 Cor. 3:23; Isa. 12:2 (Read full verses…)

Daily Manna from the Net for Friday, August 29, 2008 [Galatians 3:5-9]

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard? Consider Abraham: ‘He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.’ Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: ‘All nations will be blessed through you.’ So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. Galatians 3:5-9 NIV Listen (MP3)

Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. For, ‘Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it. 1 Peter 3:8-11 NIV Listen (MP3)
