“But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then those of them whom you let remain shall be as barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they shall trouble you in the land where you dwell.”
Fight the good fight of the faith.— For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments . . . and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.—But I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.—We are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

“If someone sins against the LORD, who can intercede for him?”
But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.—Whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.—“And he is merciful to him, and says, ‘Deliver him from going down into the pit; I have found a ransom.’”
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? . . . Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.
