Daily Light for November 1

Morning

Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors.

Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maidservant to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, till he has mercy upon us.

“It shall be a regular burnt offering throughout your generations at the entrance of the tent of meeting before the LORD, where I will meet with you, to speak to you there.”—“In every place where I cause my name to be remembered I will come to you and bless you.”

“Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

“The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.—Pray without ceasing.

Prov. 8:34; Ps. 123:2; Ex. 29:42; Ex. 20:24; Matt. 18:20; John 4:23, 24; Eph. 6:18; 1 Thess. 5:17 (Read full verses...)

Evening

His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor.

The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD.

Does not wisdom call? Does not understanding raise her voice? . . . To you, O men, I call, and my cry is to the children of man. O simple ones, learn prudence; O fools, learn sense. Hear, for I will speak noble things, and from my lips will come what is right. . . . I have counsel and sound wisdom; I have insight; I have strength.—The LORD of hosts . . . is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom.—If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.—Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Isa. 9:6; Isa. 11:2, 3; Prov. 8:1, 4-6, 14; Isa. 28:29; Jas. 1:5; Prov. 3:5, 6 (Read full verses...)
